Tottori Prefecture is the “Manga Kingdom” that has produced many great manga artists whose works represent Japan abroad. Gegege no Kitaro, by Shigeru Mizuki, A Distant Neighborhood, by Jiro Taniguchi, and Detective Conan, by Gosho Aoyama are but a few of them. It then comes as no surprise that Tottori Prefecture host its own manga contest, the “Manga Kingdom Tottori International Comic Art Contest.”
There are no prerequisites needed to participate and people can enter the contest from anywhere in the world. The grand prize is 500,000 yen and every winner gets a free trip to Tottori! Every year this guided tour centred on manga related locations is very popular! To make things even better, works that make the shortlist are published in a collection. Who knows, maybe your manga could end up on the shelves of a bookstore!
We accept entries starting from 1 page, so there it’s very easy to participate! We look forward to reading works from all around the world!
