Kyoto is home to numerous world heritage sites, many other cultural assets and traditional industries, with tourism playing a crucial role in the conservation of these assets. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic suspending cross-border travel, Kyoto, once busy with many travellers from all around Japan and the world before is now devoid of visitors. Tourism in Kyoto is has been drastically affected and the city is now facing more serious financial difficulties.
For the next generation, the city is striving to preserve Kyoto’s valuable assets such as its landscape, culture and heritage, which have been cherished over the centuries. To get through these difficult times, continuous support for our assets is essential; therefore, we would like to humbly ask for your generous and kind support to us by making a donation.
We have created a website with a heartfelt message from the city to you. It will be deeply appreciated if you would read it and give us your support.
The City of Kyoto currently carries out initiatives to make the city’s tourism safe, secure, and more resilient to various crises including infectious diseases and disasters, and well as also being ecological and sustainable for the coming future where we will still have to cope with COVID-19. When free travel between your country and Japan resumes, we hope to welcome you all as before. Until then, we hope that our friendship and warm exchanges will continue.
